Mr. Alphonza Harris

Alphonza Harris, 86, was called home January 11, 2018.   Born in Louisburg, NC, he was the fifth of six children by Elbert and Syngnora Harris.  Alphonza grew up farming with his family and received his early education in the Franklin County school system. He continued his education at Tennessee A&I (now Tennessee State University) until he was drafted into the military. 

After serving his country in the US ARMY, he decided to move to Los Angeles California where he was employed by the United States Postal Service (USPS).  Upon retiring from the USPS, he moved to Washington, D.C. to be closer to his family.  He enjoyed watching sports, playing solitaire and being with family.
Alphonza was preceded in death by: his parents, Elbert and Syngnora Harris; sister, Magnora Davis; brothers, Theodis and Jernathan Harris.  He leaves fond memories with sister Rosa Bell Watkins, brother Latheian Harris (Delores) along with four nephews, five nieces, cousins, grand-nieces & nephews and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on January 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at William Toney's Funeral Home, 516 Spring Hope N.C.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their kind expressions of sympathy, prayers, and all acts of kindness during this time of loss.
