Mrs. Maxine Booze Obituary

Maxine Dunston Booze, affectionately known as “Mac”, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, March 7, 2022, surrounded by family at her home in Fort Washington, Maryland.
Mac was born on March 30, 1948, in Nash County, North Carolina to Otis Dunston and Geraldine Lucas Dunston. She was the fifth of seven children.
She was educated in the Nash County Public School System. In 1965, she met the handsome Johnny Booze. They courted for three years and were married on September 9, 1968. From their union, 4 children were born: Linwood, Donnell, Tyrone, and Johnny.

Mac and Johnny moved to Newark, NJ. A year later, they moved to Washington, D.C., where Mac was employed by Hot Shoppes and the Sodexho/Marriott Corporation where she would retire after more than 30 years of dedicated service. She was loved by both her customers and co-workers.
At an early age, Mac accepted Christ as her savior. From 1984, until the time of her passing, she was an active and faithful member of Calvary Life Center, in Washington, DC, where she was a choir member and loved to sing praises to God. She was a biblical student who stood on the Word of God. She was also a prayer warrior who believed in the power of prayer, never hesitating to lay hands on the sick and anoint them with oil.  Mac was “gifted with a prophetic anointing” to hear the truths of God and to relay messages to those God placed on her heart.  She shared the good news of the Gospel with everyone and was a witness for Jesus by her virtuous lifestyle!
Mac was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was especially proud that she and Johnny celebrated 50 years of marriage on September 9, 2018. They loved attending church and serving the Lord together, frequenting yard sales, and going to the dollar store on Saturdays. They also liked to get away from time to time to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet, whether having a meal at Applebee’s or taking a leisurely drive home to North Carolina. Mac had many passions but spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her greatest passion of all. She will be sorely missed!
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Booze; parents Otis Dunston and Geraldine Lucas Dunston; father-in-law, Charlie Booze; mother-in-law, Ethel Booze; sisters Erdine Troublefield and Ellen Marie Slade; brothers Larry Dunston and James Dunston; sister-in-law Annie Ruth Brown; three brothers-in-law, Herman Slade, John Brown and Zollie Wilkins. She is survived by sons Linwood, Donnell (Lisa), Tyrone (Stephanie), and Johnny (Missy); step-daughter, Deborah Washington (William); ten grandchildren: Tiffany (Brian), Darel (Tamisha), Rashard, Curtis Jr. (Kamisha), Tyrone, Tyreke, DeAngelo, Jenay, Linwood Jr. and Diamond; sixteen great-grandchildren: Adrian Jr., Jaylen, Jayden, Jacion, Essence, Bryson, Rashard Jr., Ayr’ron, Alex, Jaden, Aliyah, Jewel, Tyrone Jr., Kayden, Dashell and Kaisei; sisters, Reba Rawlings and Cheryl Robinson; sisters-in-law Minister Rosa M.
